Huxley Electric Substation to Be Replaced for Reliability of the System

Huxley Electric Substation

Electric substation serving portion of City's west side and West Ellicott to be replaced by year-end.

The former 15 kilovolt switchgear at the Huxley substation was purchased in 1977 and installed in 2001.  The 5 kilovolt transformer was built and installed in 1961.  The substation will be taken off-line in April to facilitate demolition of the old equipment.  New equipment for the substation is expected to arrive in August.  The substation is expected to be built within four months and will resemble the appearance of the new English Hill Substation.
