Yard Waste Bags Resume, Make Apt. for Bags

Yard Waste Bags ready for collection

Collection of yard waste bags resumes on Tuesdays.

The BPU sells packets of four 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags for $12, including the collection service at the curb.  Normally, customers may purchase the bags at our Customer Service Office but that office currently is closed.  Instead, customers may call 661-1666/661-1660 to make an appointment to pick up the bags.  The representative setting the time will explain precautions one must take to come for the bags.  For instance, customers have to wear masks and can only come by advance appointment.  Appointments are scheduled a half hour apart, to maintain social distancing.

BPU solid waste employees collect the bags on Tuesdays each week.  Customers may call the Garbage Hotline at 661-1651 to sign up for Tuesday pick-up.  They may fill one bag at a time or have the bags collected all at once.  Appointments must be made before 3 p.m. on the Monday prior to collection, but customers can call on any day of the week to sign up.
