John Zabrodsky was appointed to the Board on January 1, 2000. His current term expires on December 31, 2011. He was elected Chairman of the Board on January 22, 2002.
Zabrodsky is Founder, Managing Director, and President (1989 to present) of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Inc. - Jamestown, New York. The company provides technical services in the development of manufacturing systems for a variety of manufacturing industry segments (pharmaceutical, automotive, food, beverage, consumer products, discrete parts, injection molding, and aerospace). Previously employed by Merck & Co., Inc., Nabisco Brands, Inc., and TRW, Inc., Zabrodsky held various capacities and positions involving process development and automation prior to founding Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Inc. Zabrodsky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Rochester and a Masters of Science degree in materials engineering from Rutgers University.
He has authored numerous papers and given numerous presentations to professional journals and societies on the subjects of process development, industrial microwave systems, manufacturing execution systems, and metal nitride materials applications. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, the Instrument Society of America, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the American Production and Inventory Control Society. Mr. Zabrodsky holds three U.S. patents and seven foreign (European Union and Japanese) patents for work done in process automation and industrial systems.
The BPU Chair is a member of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier Board. He is a Board Member, former President and former Treasurer of Chautauqua Striders, Inc. and serves as Chairman of the Athletic Committee. Mr. Zabrodsky formerly served on the Jamestown Salvation Army Advisory Board. He is past President and Member of the James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees, past Vice President of the Reg Lenna Civic Center Board of Directors and a past member of the Civic Center Development Committee Board of Directors.
Mr. Zabrodsky was elected a member of the University of Rochester Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999 where he was also a Rochester National Scholar. A Niagara Compact participant since 1996, Mr. Zabrodsky was honored as the United Way Volunteer of the Year for the Chautauqua Striders Lighted Schoolhouse Program in 1998. He has been a co-participant in the Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP), Jamestown Public Schools, since 1997.
Mr. Zabrodsky is married to the former Kristy Benson, a partner in BWB, P.C., a regional accounting firm. The couple are the parents of two children.
