In accordance with the Charter of the City of Jamestown, New York, Mayor Samuel Teresi serves as President of the Board of Public Utilities.
Mayor Teresi earned a Master of Arts in Public Affairs and Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at SUNY Albany, a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Summa Cum Laude, from the University at Buffalo, and an Associate of Arts Degree from Jamestown Community College.
Prior to being elected Mayor in November 1999, he served as Director of Development of the City of Jamestown for 12 years. The Mayor was re-elected to additional four-year terms in 2003 and 2007.
Mayor Teresi serves as Chairman of the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency, President of the Jamestown Local Development Corporation and Chairman of the Greater Jamestown Empire Zone. The Mayor is also a member of the Executive Board of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) and serves on the National Policymaking Council of the American Public Power Association (APPA).
The Mayor’s other community involvement includes: the Babe Ruth World Series Board of Directors, the Executive Board of Jamestown Professional Baseball, Inc., the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown, the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation.
Mayor Teresi and his wife Becky are the parents of two sons.
