Frederick A. Larson, a former member of the Board of Public Utilities, returns as a member of the Board to fill the unexpired term of Anthony Prinzi who recently resigned. Mayor Sam Teresi, President of the BPU Board of Directors, appointed Mr. Larson whose term will expire on December 31, 2009.
A native of Jamestown, Mr. Larson served as a City Councilman from 1979-81 and as a County Legislator from 1986-1993. His previous service as a BPU director extended from 1979-89.
The Jamestown High School graduate has practiced law privately in the City since 1977. He formerly held the part-time positions of Chautauqua County Attorney and Assistant Chautauqua County Attorney. For six years, Mr. Larson also was a founding board member of the Southern Tier West Railroad Authority which re-established rail service for Jamestown.
Mr. Larson is a member of the Jamestown Kiwanis Club, having been elected twice as its President He is a member of First Lutheran Church where he is a confirmation class teacher and chairs the Memorial Foundation. He volunteers as a board member of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
A graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, Mr. Larson practiced law with the firm of Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel before returning to Jamestown. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the Jamestown Bar Association.
Mr. Larson is married to Wendy Larson. The couple has two grown sons, Eric and Peter.
