Dr. Len Faulk

Mayor Sam Teresi named retired State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia Administrator and Professor Dr. Len Faulk to a two-year term on the Board, effective in 2012. Dr. Faulk replaced long-time board member William Guillotti who retired after 15 years of service to the Utility.

Dr. Faulk is a member of the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation board and of the Jamestown City Strategic Planning and Partnership Commission. Through these organizations, he guides the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan for Jamestown and is a member of the City-County Task Force studying and planning for the consolidation of the Jamestown Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.

Dr. Faulk worked as a political science professor and administrator at SUNY Fredonia until his retirement in 2006. He chaired the Political Science Department for six years, served as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs for three terms and held the post of Associate Vice President and Graduate Dean from 1997-2006. At SUNY Fredonia, Dr. Faulk was the founding Director of the Center for Rural Regional Development & Governance.

Dr. Faulk holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from Wheaton College; and a Master of Social Work in Community Organization and a Ph.D. in Social Policy from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to his positions at SUNY Fredonia, Dr. Faulk was an administrator of several community service agencies including: Director of the Jamestown Community Action Agency; Coordinator of the Chautauqua County Small Business Assistance Program; Founder/Executive Director of the Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation (CHRIC); and Associate Director of Rural American in Washington, DC.

As part of his interest in Chautauqua County housing, he initiated senior housing in many villages in the County. In addition, he helped develop the Rural Ministries emergency shelter in Dunkirk and originated the 19 units of handicapped housing at the Jamestown YMCA.
